The Common Gaming Houses Act 1953 states that anyone caught gambling in a common gaming house risks up to six months in prison or a fine. However, Malaysia has no specific online gaming or iGaming laws.

The Civil Law Act does not cover online casinos, poker, sports betting, or bingo. Malaysian authorities have never prosecuted players for online gaming, although they have shut down internet gambling establishments within the country.

However, no online casinos operate out of Malaysia, but some international operators do accept Malaysian players. Despite laws requiring Malaysian banks to reject transactions from online gambling sites, some financial institutions do not strictly enforce this.
